Friend and Advisor

Aye, there’s the rub. For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause.

When in doubt, quote Shakespeare. And when you’re not in doubt, quote yourself, that others may doubt you — not that they deserve the chance, but it will make them feel better after having had yet another rough night’s sleep. Because the truth is, as long as we live, any sleep will do, because it must, just as any sleep may prove to be the sleep of death. Obsess if you will; torture yourself by reading about sleep on the internet; whatever you do, don’t allow yourself to live simply, eat a simple diet, lessen your exposure to electronics, and get plenty of exercise. Be like me, a sarcastic friend and advisor to all, who gets up at four in the morning amazed to find the world is still here, and that I am still here, hoping you are still here, ready to understand if you are not, because you have moved on to more intelligent reading material. This is not to say that I sleep well. How can anyone sleep in this strange and selfish world we’ve made?
